Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with Overlord?
Simply download and install Overlord for your platform, then run it to start the setup wizard.

The wizard will guide you through configuring your ESO AddOns folder location. It's designed to be beginner-friendly with minimal configuration required.

After that - select the "Explore" tab and get installing!
What if I encounter dependency issues?
Overlord automatically detects and installs required dependencies for your add-ons. If you encounter any issues, the app will let you manually install missing dependencies for all your addons through the interface.
How often should I update my add-ons?
I recommend checking for updates weekly or just after major ESO patches. Overlord makes this easy with one-click bulk updates that handle all your add-ons and their dependencies simultaneously. You'll always know which add-ons have updates available.

Preview note: some future version will allow you to set up automatic background updates, after the testing that will let me make this process as safe as possible!
Can I use Overlord with my own custom add-ons?
Absolutely! Overlord works with both public add-ons from the ESOUI website and your own private local add-ons. It will automatically detect manifest files and handle dependencies even for add-ons that aren't publicly available.
Is Overlord safe to use?
It has no telemetry or data collection, and only operates on your local files.

The only requests to The Internet it makes - is to this very website to check on addon's metadata and fresh updates, and the direct download links from ESOUI.

All add-on management happens locally on your machine with no external data uploads or tracking.

Note that Overlord is able to remove files and folders from your ESO AddOns folder (or the one you've told it to use), so make sure to backup your addons if you plan to remove something.

It will not remove any files from any other directory, and it will not do so without your personal intent and consent.
What platforms are supported?
Overlord provides native builds for Windows (.exe), Linux (.AppImage), and macOS (.zip). Each version is somewhat optimized for its respective platform with consistent functionality and user experience across all operating systems.
Why do I need Overlord if I already have Minion?
Good luck fixing dependencies or checking on your own addons with Minion!

It's called "Overlord" for a reason!
